Audi R8 engines
4.2L V8 FSI
The Audi R8's 4.2L V8 FSI engine was first used in the Audi RS4. Since then it has gone through several upgrades before being used in the R8. It has been augmented in order to gain a 420 horsepower and 8,000 maximum rpm. Other additions from its earlier predecessor include a dry sump lubrication system. This beast of an engine creates a torque of 430 Nm. All those factors combined give the Audi R8 the ability to accelerate to 100 km/h in a matter of 4.4 seconds, pretty good count by any standards. The 6 gear manual gearbox gives the driver a solid control over the powerful Audi R8. The versatility of this engine is sure to have avid Audi drivers lining up for a test run.

This arrangement allows the driver to do anything from simply drive around town doing errands or maneuvering heavy city traffic. With a top speed of 301 km/h, the Audi R8 is sure to impress any potential driver. For anyone brave enough to truly open it up, this engine can eat up highway like a light snack. The best part about it is the sound it puts out, when the engine is running slowly, it is a strong, yet dulled hum, a beautiful but unobtrusive sound. Once the driver takes it past 5,000 rpm the beast really wakes up and lets loose its roar. Any fan of speed and power would hunger for more , which the 4.2L V8 FSI could easily provide.
5.2L V10 FSI
A new Audi R8 is being released with a new, even more powerful engine. The new R8 uses the same 5.2 L engine as the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. This engine puts out 525 horsepower, a good hundred over the traditional R8 engine. Those familiar with the R8 LMS GT3 racer are already familiar with this engine, as this car already sports the engine. The 5.2 L engine cut time off the acceleration, going from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds instead of 4.4. a step above even the normally powerful R8, this engine is sure to excite the potential buyer.

Combining technology used in racing vehicles, this engine is the peak of Audi's know-how. The ten cylinders of this new arrangement is a powerful combination in both performance and sheer power without adding too much weight. It manages to be small and light while at the same time putting out a huge amount of power. Enough power in fact that Audi is working with the GT3 rules in order to make it into a racing engine.
6.0L V12 TDI
Audi is working on bringing racing technology from the Le Mans racing circuit into the garage of the common man. Well the common man with extra change in his bank account anyway. They are doing it in the form of a new Audi R8 with a new 6.0L V12 TDI engine. While it has the same number of cylinders at the R10 racing car, but beyond that the similarities are few. The V12 TDI is an original design and puts out 500 horsepower. The V12 TDI has a fuel economy of 23 MPG, making it a good buy for the collector of powerful sports cars.
